Quick answers

Does my audio get uploaded to a transcription service?

No. Speech recognition (WhisperKit), speaker separation (Sortformer on a Mac, SpeakerKit on an iPhone) and highlight extraction (Apple's on-device foundation models) all run on your own device. There is no API key in the app for a transcription or AI service, because there is no such service in the pipeline.

So is everything local?

The processing is. The storage is not, and the two are different claims. Transcription Studio requires an FCT account, and your library, sessions, transcripts, highlights, speaker names and the recordings themselves, is stored in that account on FCT's infrastructure so it reaches your other devices.

Can I use it without signing in?

No. Sign-in is required; there is no signed-out mode. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and password.

How do I delete my recordings?

Deleting a session in the app removes it, recording included, from your account across every device. Settings also offers two larger doors: delete Transcription Studio's data (which leaves your FCT account and other FCT apps alone), or delete the whole account and everything in it.

Does the app collect analytics?

There is no third-party analytics SDK, no advertising identifier and no cross-app tracking. Transcription Studio does report anonymous diagnostics to FCT, crash and performance data, a trail of screen and action names (never content), and feature-use counts, keyed to a random install identifier that is joined to no account and carries nothing you typed, viewed or stored.

Can I get it on the App Store?

Transcription Studio is a native Mac and iPhone app from FCT Technologies. If you have it, everything on this page applies to you: write to the address above and we answer within 5 business days. The open-source web engine the app grew out of is separate, and is public under the MIT license.
